*disclaimer- my laptop died the other day, seriously tragic. I am doing all my blog work between my phone and my hubby’s laptop. neither one of these are ideal and so my pictures are pretty sucky. sorry*
I have been putting off painting and decorating my sons room until I was fairly certain that I had a plan that could grow up with him. He really wanted an Avengers bedroom, and I spent hours searching Pinterest and other blogs trying to figure out the exactly right combination of fashion and function, little boy and tween. I want to be able to keep the basics the same and just update some of the little things as he grows (and he just won’t stop growing up these days). I think I finally have a solid plan and I am just about ready to pop the top off the paint and get started!!
Here is a reminder of what we had before. This picture was actually taken in our old house and sadly most of the wall stickers just couldn’t hold up to a 4th stick and have fallen away. That’s okay though, because I am looking to do something I little more permanent.
My son has the biggest room in the house by far, and through that door on the side is a “fort” that runs under the eaves of our house that is seriously as big as his room! I am not going to even attempt to deal with that space (this time around) so I am only focusing on the main bedroom.
So here is the idea board!! I have already purchased the paint and I will be using the “secure blue” for the main part of the walls all the way around the room. I will be using the “positive red” on the angled piece between the main wall and the ceiling.
I already have the wooden letters that spell out his name, so I am thinking that I will probably just bump up the awesome factor with some comic book pages mod podged on to. I also still have the giant engineering print that I did for his birthday last year of the avengers scene that I want to try and affix to the front of his dresser drawers. I am thinking that once all the walls are painted I *may* attempt this awesome fabric starching technique and cover the back wall of his bedroom (with the window) with avengers fabric. It is supposed to be easy to peel off when you are done with it and cause no damage to the wall underneath. I would also like to trash all of those wall stickers and replace them with some too cool for school framed art prints of the avengers. I am thinking that it might be fun to use some washi tape or even patterned duct tape as a frame instead of a big heavy wood one, but we’ll see what we can find out here in no man’s land!
He is in desperate need of an organization system above his desk so i need to find something that has lots of good sized compartments, that he can reach by himself and that will grow into something he needs still as a teenager. This is a tall order and one I haven’t figured out yet, so give me your suggestions!!
