With the holiday season there is the almost constant holiday party, get together and potluck to go to. I have teamed up with 40+ other bloggers to bring you some of our favorite holiday appetizers, desserts and cocktails/mocktails. Today I am sharing a 10 minute recipe that makes you look like a dynamo in the kitchen!
Pesto and Hazelnut Cheese Ball
- 12 ounces cream cheese
- 1-2 tablespoons pesto
- 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
- crackers, bread, chips, pretzels or veggie sticks
Start with a 12 ounce container of your favorite cream cheese. I like the whipped variety, but any plain cream cheese will work. Mix in 1-2 tablespoons of pesto, depending on how flavorful you want your ball. Once it is completely mixed grab your chopped hazelnuts. Spread 1/4 cup of the nuts onto your counter or cutting board. Then scoop the cream cheese mixture into a ball and form it gently with your hands. Drop it onto your chopped nuts and roll it around until it is completely covered, adding more nuts if needed. Once it is covered in nuts it will be easier to shape into a ball. Cover it in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. I like to serve mine with slices of fresh sourdough from the bakery, but it goes great with crackers, pretzels and veggies as well!
