So summer is finally here and thank goodness! I’ve been feeling in a crafting funk for the past couple of months, wanting to make all the things, but too overwhelmed with school to do anything about it. School ended a couple of weeks ago though, and I’ve been a busy girl since then! I’ve been dreaming about those beautiful Nickle & Suede earrings ever since I saw them, but I realized with my Cricut I didn’t have to dream anymore.
I picked up a variety pack of Cricut’s faux suede and borrowed this earring pattern from my friend Steph at Crafting in the Rain. She is like the sweetest human being ever! Anyway, I opened her pattern up in the design space software, stuck my beautiful caramel faux leather on my light adhesive mat (that mat is my absolute favorite. All time. Ever) and hit GO. Seriously folks, it was just about as simple as that.
Once they were cut, I simply slid an earring hook into each of the holes and I was ready to go. I decided to spice my earrings up with a little shimmer so I laid a piece of washi tape diagonally across each piece and painted this super pretty color shift paint from Plaid. I got to hang out with the folks from Plaid AND Cricut when I went to SNAP this year and they are all just the best!
I painted a single thin coat on each earring going from the tape to the edge of the earring, just to be sure it didn’t bleed under accidentally. About 1 minute late (not even joking) the paint was dry enough to remove the tape and I stuck those beauties in my ears. Hello love! I can’t wait to make about a million more pairs to give as gifts to all my mommy friends, teacher friends, lady friends, EVERYONE!
I absolutely love my Cricut, and this project was lightening fast because of it. Seriously the whole took me maybe 10 minutes. It was so fast, I dare say I probably could have done it on a work day…that’ll teach me!
